2006 NFHS Baseball Rules Changes

1-5-5: New Rule: Defensive players are permitted to wear face/head protection in the field. If a pitcher or any defensive player wears face/head protection, its outer covering shall have a non-glare surface.

Tests have shown that many baseball and softball batting helmets do not absorb and dissipate sufficient impact forces to reduce the risk of a head injury.

The impact resistance of the existing baseball hats against fast pitching baseballs is significantly enhanced in reducing the risk of head injury to baseball players by placing a ForceField FF Headband on first and then wearing the batter’s helmet on top The test results are posted at www.forcefieldheadbands.com/testdata.html.
